After every result, the first question is: what is my percentage? And before the result: how many marks do I need for 75% or 90%? This free calculator answers both — your percentage from your marks, and the marks needed for any target percentage. It runs in your browser.
Part 1 — Your percentage
Part 2 — Marks needed for a target
The formula
Percentage = (Marks Obtained ÷ Total Marks) × 100
Worked example: 432 out of 500 = 432 ÷ 500 × 100 = 86.4%.
Why does this matter? Many job and admission forms set percentage cut-offs, like 60% or 75%, so a small marks difference can decide whether you can apply. Note that some boards give grades or CGPA instead of marks — for CGPA, your board or university formula applies. This calculator is for marks-based percentage.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate percentage of 6 subjects?
Add all the marks you obtained, add all the total marks, then use the calculator above with those two numbers.
How many marks for 75% in 600 total?
0.75 × 600 = 450 marks. The second part of this tool does the same calculation for any target percentage and any total.
Is CGPA × 9.5 the same for every board?
No — that formula is famous for CBSE. Other boards and universities use different formulas, so always check your own board’s rule for converting CGPA to percentage.
